Dirk began his guiding career at Big Sky, Montana’s, Lone Mountain Ranch in 1986 and has guided, and taught fly fishing and fly tying ever since. His home river is the Huron near Dexter, Michigan, and he still travels west regularly.
His guiding specialty is smallmouth bass, and he also enjoys taking trout, salmon and carp with the long rod.
He is co-owner of Bailiwicks Outdoors in Dexter, Michigan, and is president of the Huron River Fly fishing Club. He maintains active membership in Trout Unlimited and the Federation of Fly Fishers.
Dirk lives in Saline, Michigan, and is a graduate of the University of Michigan.
